On February 24, 2022, Russian forces began their assault on Kyiv. Three days later they set target on Irpin, a small town outside of Kyiv. By March 14, they had control of half the town. Two weeks later, the Ukrainian forces drove the Russian forces out.

At least 20,000 Irpin residents were evacuated to Kyiv. Many locations were significantly damaged or destroyed. The upscale community property of Irpinsky Lipky was among the severely damaged. By July 2022, residents were returning and cleaning up their homes and looking for a return to normality.
